Fifth wheels are among the most luxurious and feature-rich RVs on the road.
Thanks to their spacious layouts, modern amenities, and ability to feel like a home.
They’re also one of the best options for couples seeking the crackle of a campfire and starry nights.
However, with hundreds of models available, selecting one specifically designed for couples can be challenging, especially since many 5th-wheels cater primarily to families.
The good news though is there are many fifth wheels designed with couples in mind that prioritize comfort, entertainment, and luxury.
With features like king-sized beds, spacious living rooms, state-of-the-art kitchens, and luxurious bathrooms.
So to assist those looking for the perfect couple’s fifth wheel, we created this blog post highlighting the best 5th wheels for couples available today.

The KZ RV Sportsmen 231RK is one of the most compact and affordable couple’s 5th wheels available.
With a length of just under 25 feet and an average price of approximately $40,000, this compact fifth wheel is an excellent choice for couples with a less-capable tow vehicle or a limited budget.
Despite its smaller size though, the Sportsmen 231RK does not skimp on comfort or luxury.
As the KZ Sportsmen 231RK features a front bedroom with a north-to-south queen bed flanked by dual wardrobes.
As well as a spacious living area with a rear kitchen, a large dinette booth, and a standard sofa bed or optional theatre seating.
Plus, as you would expect, the Sportsmen 231RK has a full three-piece dry bath, with a separate shower, toilet, and bathroom vanity.
KZ RV Sportsmen 231RK Floorplan
There is one catch in regards to the layout on the 231RK though, which might be a deal breaker for some, as the camper has a semi-private bathroom.
While the compact fifth wheel does offer a private water closet, the shower and vanity are open to the bedroom.
Making the bathroom only semi-private.
For couples looking for an ultra-lightweight compact 5th wheel though, this might be a sacrifice their willing to make.
Because you’d be hard-pressed to find a smaller or lighter 5th wheel that offers as much comfort and luxury.
Why It’s Great for Couples:
- Compact Size and Lighter Weight Allow for Easier Towing and Maneuvering
- Semi-Private Front Bedroom
- Optional Theatre Seating
- Large, Fully-Equipped Rear Kitchen
- Affordable Price Makes it Accessible to a Broader Range of Budgets

Another affordable fifth wheel that’s great for couples is the Forest River Cherokee Arctic Wolf 27SGS.
A recent addition to the Forest River’s Cherokee Arctic Wolf lineup, the 27SGS model is priced attractively, with an average cost of just $41,500.
This places the camper comfortably below the $50,000 mark, often regarded as the threshold for budget-friendly 5th wheels.
Forest River Cherokee Arctic Wolf 27SGS Floorplan
Despite this RV’s more affordable price though, it boasts features typically only found in higher-end 5th wheels.
Beginning with its opposing rear slide-outs, which gives the fifth wheel a very open and spacious feel.
In addition, the Cherokee Arctic Wolf 27SGS also offers one of the best cold-weather packages in its class.
By including features like a fully enclosed underbelly with forced air heat, a high-efficiency 35,000 BTU furnace, and upgraded two-inch thick laminated exterior walls with block foam insulation.
Making it an ideal choice for couples who enjoy cold weather or year-round camping.
Beyond all its upgrades though, at its core, this 5th wheel is designed to maximize comfort and luxury for two.
By including such amenities as dual recliners and a private front bedroom with loads of closet space.

- Affordable Price Makes it Accessible for a Wider Range of Budgets
- Dual Recliners
- Private Front Bedroom With Residential Door

3. Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 24RDS
Quick Specs
- Average Cost: $47,000
- Length: 28 Feet 10 Inches
- Dry Weight: 7,463 Pounds
- Hitch Weight: 1,430 Pounds
- Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 10,000 Pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: 4 – 6 (Depending on Options)
- Slide-Outs: 2
With an unloaded weight of under 8,000 pounds, the Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 24RDS stands out as a super lightweight fifth wheel.
This makes it an ideal choice for those with less-capable tow vehicles.
Despite it’s lighter weight and smaller size though, this Keystone Cougar Half-Ton checks all the boxes.
And is a testament to the idea that you don’t have to compromise on features or comfort when you opt for a compact RV.
Designed specifically for couples, the Cougar Half-Ton 24RDS offers a rear entertainment layout, featuring a spacious combined living room and kitchen, a fully-equipped mid-bath, and a cozy front bedroom.
Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 24RDS Floorplan
Beginning at the rear, the 24RDS optimizes its interior space with an open layout complemented by a large slide-out.
This design accommodates ample seating, an option for theatre seats, a generous L-shaped kitchen, and an entertainment center equipped with a built-in fireplace.
Moving forward, the camper has a private mid-bathroom, which while not particularly special, does offer a three-piece configuration and a good amount of space.
Concluding the tour at the front, the 24RDS trim level offers a well-appointed private bedroom, complete with a walk-around queen bed, an expansive wardrobe slide-out, and dual wardrobe/nightstands.
Why It’s Great for Couples:
- Compact Size and Lightweight Design for Easier Towing and Maneuvering
- Private Front Bedroom
- Ample Bedroom Closet Space

- Spacious Rear Entertainment Layout

4. Jayco Eagle HT 24RE
Quick Specs
- Average Cost: $47,500
- Length: 29 Feet 1 Inch
- Dry Weight: 8,060 Pounds
- Hitch Weight: 1,480 Pounds
- Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 9,995 Pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: 4
- Slide-Outs: 1
The Jayco Eagle HT 24RE is among the most compact 5th wheels on the market, yet it remains an excellent choice as a full-time RV for couples.
With its rear living room design, the Eagle HT 24RE feels open and spacious, thanks in large part to the extra large rear slide-out.
Jayco Eagle HT 24RE Floorplan
Featuring a well-appointed L-shaped kitchen with a peninsula island and a massive hidden pantry, the Eagle HT 24RE is best suited for couples who enjoy cooking and dining.
As the 24RE also has a free-standing kitchen table instead of the more common RV dinette booth, which gives the camper a more homey feel inside.
However, if there’s one drawback to the rear living area on this 5th wheel, it would have to be its lack of comfortable seating.
While the 24RE floorplan does offer a reasonably comfortable tri-fold sofa across from the entertainment center, that’s the only seating available in the living room.
Which makes it less than ideal for entertaining.
For a sub-30-foot 5th wheel, though, the Jayco Eagle HT 24RE still offers plenty of comfort.
As it also offers a spacious three-piece dry bath and a luxurious private front bedroom with a queen bed, dual wardrobes, and washer/dryer prep.
Why It’s Great for Couples:
- Compact Design and Lighter Weight Allow for Easier Towing and Maneuvering
- Private Front Bedroom
- Ample Bedroom Closet Space With Washer/Dry Prep
- Fully Equipped L-shaped Kitchen With Penisula Island and Extra Large Pantry
- Free-Standing Kitchen Table

5. Forest River Rockwood Signature 281RK
Quick Specs
- Average Cost: $50,000
- Length: 28 Feet 11 Inches
- Dry Weight: 8,247 Pounds
- Hitch Weight: 1,236 Pounds
- Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 9,836 Pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: 2 – 4 (Depending on Options)
- Slide-Outs: 2
From Forest River’s Signature lineup, the 281RK is tailor-made for couples seeking a compact 5th wheel and a luxurious travel experience.
Thanks to the 281RK’s compact size and class-leading features.
These include dual slide-outs, an expansive and well-equipped kitchen, a large nose cap wardrobe, optional theatre seating, and the choice of a king-size bed.
The features don’t stop there though on this well-equipped fifth wheel, as the exterior offers just as many upgrades as the interior.
Forest River Rockwood Signature 281RK Floorplan
Beginning with its construction, this Forest River Signature Fifth Wheel is built with a surface-coated steel I-Beam frame, Azdel sidewalls, and full 6-sided aluminum framing.
In addition, the exterior also offers a fully enclosed and insulated underbelly, heated holding tanks, and a high gloss fiberglass front cap.
Additionally, it features tinted frameless windows, slam-latch baggage doors, a Nautilus water management system, and a robust 200-watt solar panel paired with a 1,800-watt inverter.
Because of the fifth wheel’s smaller size though there are a few limitations to the Signature 281RK trim level.
Most notably, seating comfort is somewhat compromised.
This is because, similar to the previously mentioned Eagle HT 24RE, the only living room seating offered is either a small hide-a-bed sofa or optional theatre seating, tucked inside a small slide-out.
Also, because the living room slide-out is on the smaller side, the camper doesn’t feel as spacious or open as other 5th wheels on this list.
Finally, I would say the front bedroom also feels a little cramped compared to other campers on this list, even with the bedroom slide-out and east-to-west bed, especially if you opt for the king bed.
Overall though, the Forest River Signature 281RK has a lot going for it and is a great option for those looking for a compact lightweight luxurious 5th wheel.
Why It’s Great for Couples:
- Compact Lightweight Design Makes it Easier to Tow and Maneuver
- Optional Theatre Seating
- Optional King Size Bed
- Private Front Bedroom with Residential Door
- Oversized Bedroom Nose Cap Wardrobe With Shelving

6. Dutchmen Yukon 399ML
Quick Specs
- Average Cost: $65,000
- Length: 42 Feet 5 Inches
- Dry Weight: 13,794 Pounds
- Hitch Weight: 2,565 Pounds
- Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 16,359 Pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: 4
- Slide-Outs: 3
Often hailed as a “bargain luxury 5th wheel”, the Dutchmen Yukon 399ML is the first of three luxury couple 5th wheels we’ve chosen to close out this list.
Don’t let the term “bargain” fool you though, as bargain does not mean cheap when it comes to the Yukon 399ML.
As this 40+ foot fifth wheel matches its pricier counterparts in features and upgrades, it’s just in a more budget-friendly package.
From its seven-foot-tall slide-out ceiling height to its luxurious interior finishes.
Dutchmen Yukon 399ML Floorplan
The biggest stand-out feature on this budget luxury fifth wheel though has to be its kitchen, as the Yukon 399ML offers one of the largest and most well-equipped kitchens available in an RV.
Taking up about a quarter of the 5th wheel’s floorplan, the 399ML kitchen is second to none.
Thanks to features like a full wrap-around counter, an oversized full-height pantry, an 18 cubic-foot french door refrigerator, and the largest oven in the industry.
The living room in this fifth wheel doesn’t fall short either.
As It parallels the kitchen in grandeur, with features like partial opposing slide-outs, abundant comfortable seating with reclining theatre seats, and an expansive entertainment center complete with a built-in fireplace.
The remaining interior space of this luxury 5th wheel is dedicated to personal quarters.
Featuring a luxurious pass-through bathroom with dual sinks, and a private front bedroom equipped with a king-size bed.
If I had one complaint about the Yukon 399ML though, it would have to be it’s small bedroom.
Because while the bedroom does offer a king-size bed and a slide-out, it’s very cramped and offers just enough space to sleep comfortably.
Why It’s Great for Couples:
- Reclining Theatre Seating
- Dual Bathroom Sinks
- King Size Bed
- Full-Size Residential Kitchen
- Private Front Bedroom
- Oversized Bedroom Nose Cap Wardrobe

Keystone Montana 3123RL Floorplan

Grand Design Reflection 320MKS Floorplan
