The Hummingbird as its name implies, was a lightweight travel trailer produced by Jayco from 2017 to 2020, before being replaced by the Jay Feather Micro in 2021.
Designed to be an ultralight camper, the Humminbird lineup included several different trim levels with dry weights ranging from 1,570 to 3,095 pounds.
Making the Jayco Hummingbird super popular with RVers looking for a small lightweight travel trailer they could pull with their compact or mid-size SUV.
If you’re looking for a Jayco Humminbird today though, you’ll have to buy used, as Jayco no longer makes the Hummingbird.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though for RVers shopping on a budget.

As the Jayco Hummingbird costs anywhere from $14,000 to $25,000, depending on its trim level, production year, and condition.

The Jayco Hummingbird 17RK is one of the most popular and expensive Hummingbird trim levels available.
Thanks in large part to its huge rear kitchen and expansive convertible u-shaped dinette booth, which not only provides ample seating for four but also allows this lightweight camper to sleep up to four when converted to a sleeping space.
Which is pretty impressive, considering that this camper, like all Jayco Hummingbirds, is less than 20 feet long.
In addition, the Hummingbird 17RK also offers the largest slide-out available on a Hummingbird, which encompasses not only the large u-shaped dinette booth but also the fridge, which really helps to open up the interior living space.
If there was one downfall of the Hummingbird 17RK though, it would have to be its wet bath.
As the Hummingbird 17RK features a mid-two-piece wet bath, instead of a rear dry bath, like all other 19 foot 10 inch Hummingbird models.
What Affects the Price of the Jayco Hummingbird?
There can be as much as an $11,000 price difference between the least and most expensive Jayco Hummingbirds.
Which can really affect the affordability of the camper, for those shopping on a budget.
So we thought it was important to take a moment to break down the main factors that affect the price of the Jayco Hummingbird.
Hummingbird Trim Levels
One of the biggest factors that can affect the cost of the Jayco Hummingbird, is its trim level.
As the Hummingbird has eight different trim levels and floorplans to choose from.
Which all have varying sizes, features, and amenities that can affect its overall price.
For example, the Humminbird 10RK, which offers a two-person sleeping capacity, a small rear outdoor kitchenette, and no bathroom costs substantially less compared to the Hummingbird 17RB, which offers a four-person sleeping capacity, an interior kitchen, four-person dinette booth, and a large rear three-piece dry bath.
Hummingbird Sizes
Another factor that can have a big impact on the cost of the Jayco Hummingbird is its overall size.
As smaller versions of the Hummingbird will always cost less compared to larger ones.
As larger Hummingbirds cost more to construct, offer more interior space, and offer more features compared to smaller Hummingbirds, which drives the cost up, on larger Hummingbird models.
Hummingbird Options
The final factor that can affect the cost of the Jayco Hummingbird is how the Hummingbird is optioned out.
Because while all Hummingbirds come well-equipped with numerous standard features and amenities, there are some optional upgrades for the Hummingbird that can add additional costs to the camper including:
- 24 Inch LED TV
- Exterior Grill
- Baja Package
- 30 Pound LP Gas Bottle
- Goodyear Spare Tire
- Enclosed UnderBelly with Astro Foil Insulation
Does the Jayco Hummingbird Have a Bathroom?
All Jayco Hummingbirds have a bathroom with the exception of the Hummingbird 10RK, which is the smallest Hummingbird model available.
However, not all Jayco Hummingbird bathrooms are created equally.
As the type of bathroom and included fixtures vary from one Hummingbird trim level to the next.
For example, the Hummingbird 16MRB, 17MBS, and 17RB all have dry baths, while the Hummingbird 16FD and 17RK both have wet baths.
In addition, the Hummingbird 16MRB and 17RB offer a three-piece bath with a separate shower, toilet, and bathroom sink, while the Hummingbird 16FD and 17RK only offer a two-piece bath with a shower and toilet only.
What is the Smallest Jayco Hummingbird?
The smallest Jayco Hummingbird is the Hummingbird 10RK, which has an overall length of 12 feet 2 inches and a dry weight of just 1,570 pounds.
Allowing the Hummingbird 10RK to be pulled by a variety of tow vehicles, including minivans as well as compact and mid-size SUVs.
Built with the outdoor adventurer in mind, the Jayco Hummingbird 10RK was designed to be the perfect basecamp for boondocking and dry camping in the backcountry.
As this small lightweight camper from Jayco can go places larger and bulker campers could never dream of, allowing you to camp in the most remote of campsites.
However, despite its smaller more compact size the Jayco Hummingbird 10RK is still a very well-equipped camper.
As the Hummingbird 10RK features an onboard battery with solar prep for off-grid power, a large comfortable double bed, exterior and interior LED lighting, an 18,000 BTU furnace connected to a 20- pound propane tank, as well as a nicely-equipped rear outdoor kitchen.
Which provides a substantial upgrade in comfort and convenience compared to tent camping.
How Much Does the Jayco Hummingbird Weigh?
The Jayco Hummingbird has a dry weight that ranges from 1,570 to 3,095 pounds depending on the trim level.
With smaller Hummingbirds weighing at or below 2,500 pounds, and larger Hummingbirds weighing just over 3,000 pounds.
However, the dry weight of a camper is never a good indicator of the true weight of an RV.
As no one pulls a completely empty trailer behind them when they’re going camping.
So if you’re trying to decide whether your tow vehicle can pull a particular Hummingbird, you must also add the weight of the cargo loaded into the camper as well.
Which typically adds anywhere from 500 to 1,000 pounds to the weight of a Hummingbird, depending on its size and cargo-carrying capacity.
Which means that a fully loaded Jayco Hummingbird will typically weigh between 2,000 and 4,000 pounds.
How Many Does the Jayco Hummingbird Sleep?
The Jayco Hummingbird will sleep either two or four campers at a time, depending on the trim level.
With smaller Hummingbirds such as the 10RK, 16MRB, and 17MBS sleeping two, and larger Hummingbirds such as the 17RB and 17RK sleeping four.
