Standard vs Deluxe Version

One of the most significant impacts on the price of the 13-foot Scamp trailer is the version of the trailer you choose, as Scamp makes two main versions of their 13-foot camper including a standard and a deluxe version.

And while they share many similar features, the deluxe version of the 13-foot Scamp trailer has several upgrades that you won’t find on the standard trailer.

Bathroom vs No Bathroom

While you might assume that all 13-foot Scamp trailers have a bathroom like other small travel trailers, in actuality, many do not.

As the bathroom on a 13-foot Scamp trailer is optional based on the floorplan.

And due to the limited interior space inside a 13-foot Scamp camper, there are a lot of people that choose to go without the bathroom, as it provides more interior space as well as more sleeping capacity.

Optional Equipment

There’s a huge list of upgrades and add-ons you can have installed on a Scamp, which affects not only the price but also the weight of the small camper.

And while we won’t list every option, below are some of the more expensive ones you can add to the buildout of a Scamp trailer.

16-Foot Scamp Trailer Cost

Even though the 16-foot Scamp trailer has a similar look and feel compared to the 13-foot camper, you can really feel the extra 3 feet of space when you step inside this larger Scamp trailer.

As the 16-foot scamp trailer has more counter space as well as more storage space.

But just how much is that extra 3 feet of space going to cost you?

The 16-foot Scamp trailer starts at around $19,000 with minimal options and no bathroom and can cost as much as $29,000 for a deluxe fully loaded version with a bathroom.

And while the 19-foot Scamp trailer does require a truck to tow due to the 5th wheel design, because of the 5th wheel layout and floorplan, it offers a lot more usable interior space compared to the more standard 13-foot and 16-foot Scamp trailers.

But just how much does that extra interior space cost on the 19-foot Scamp trailer?

The 19-foot scamp trailer starts at around $25,000 for the standard version with minimal options while the deluxe version can cost as much as $35,000 depending on options.

How Much Does a 13-Foot Scamp Trailer Weigh?

The next most popular question beyond the cost of the 13-foot Scamp trailer is how much one weighs.

As the weight of the trailer can have a big impact on usability as well as what type of vehicles can tow the RV.

The 13-foot Scamp trailer is one of the lightest stand-up trailers you can buy, with a dry weight of only 1200 to 1500 pounds for the standard version and 1300 to 1600 pounds for the deluxe version.

Also, the trailer hitch weight on a 13-foot Scamp trailer ranges from 100 to 150 pounds, depending on the version and how the trailer is optioned.

This means this little Scamp camper can be pulled by almost any small truck and most small and midsize SUVs.

Can a Subaru Forester Tow a Scamp Trailer?

Many people want to know if the Subaru Forester can tow a Scamp trailer.

So we did some research and this is what we found out.

Given that the Subaru Forester has a max towing capacity of 1500 pounds, technically it would be possible to tow a stripped-down basic 13-foot Scamp trailer with no bathroom and no cargo, as they have a dry weight starting at 1200 pounds.

However, once you factor in minimal options, cargo, propane, and battery weight, even the most basic stripped-down 13-foot Scamp trailer would quickly exceed the Subaru Forester’s 1500-pound max towing capacity.

As a fully loaded 13-foot, Scamp trailer can weigh as much as 2000 pounds.  And because of this, you should not tow a Scamp trailer with a Subaru Forester.

Can a Subaru Outback Tow a Scamp Trailer?

Another vehicle that people often want to know if it can tow a Scamp trailer is the Subaru Outback.

So we did some research and this is what we found out.

The Subaru Outback has a max tow capacity between 2,700 and 3,500 pounds, depending on how it’s equipped.

Making it possible for a Subaru Outback to tow a 13-foot Scamp trailer, as it has a dry weight of 1200 to 1600 pounds.

However, when it comes to the 16-foot Scamp trailer, which has a dry weight between 1750 and 2600 pounds, it’s not such a cut-and-dry answer.

This is because even the dry weight of the 16-foot Scamp trailer could be pushing the limits of your Outback depending on which version you have.

So before you tow a 16-foot Scamp trailer with a Subaru Outback, it’s important to know the specific tow capacity of your Outback, as well as have a good estimate of the weight of your fully-loaded Scamp trailer.

Remembering that you always want to err on the side of caution and never want to max out your vehicle’s towing capacity.
